Scouts Hanna Masaryk, Mary Kate Skehan, and John Bowers read and evaluate a wide range of fiction from important new literary voices to potential bestsellers as well as nonfiction of every type, from current affairs to memoirs to self-help. We also evaluate children’s and young adult literature. Literary agencies, all the major houses, university presses and independent publishers are covered in our search for books with strong translation potential.
Sanford Greenburger began recommending American literature to his friends and colleagues in European publishing from the agency’s inception in the 1930s, making us the first professional book scouts. Today, SJGA remains one of the major international scouting agencies in New York. Our clients include some of the most distinguished publishers in Europe and Latin America. Furthermore, we are the U. S. representatives for some of the major literary agencies in Asia.
Scouts work solely on behalf of their international clients. Scouts are not agents, and cannot evaluate or respond to unsolicited material.
