The Scouting Division
Director Carol Frederick and scouts Stefanie Diaz and Molly Strasser read and evaluate a wide range of American fiction from important new literary voices to potential bestsellers as well as non-fiction of every type, from current affairs to memoirs to self help. Literary agencies, all the major houses, university presses and independent publishers are covered in our search for those books with strong translation potential.
Sanford Greenburger began recommending American literature to his friends and colleagues in European publishing from the agency’s inception, making us the first professional book scouts. Today, SJGA remains one of the major international scouting agencies in New York. Our clients include many of the most distinguished publishers from Europe and Latin America: Rowohlt Verlag, Grasset et Fasquelle, Einaudi and Stile Libero, Salamandra, Aschehoug, Distribuidora Record, Metaixmio, Ambo-Anthos and Artemis, and The Times of London. We are the U.S. representatives for literary agencies in Asia, and have worked for decades with the Tuttle Mori Agency in Japan, and more recently with the Eric Yang Agency, Tuttle Mori in Thailand and Vietnam, and the Andrew Nurnberg China offices in Beijing and Taipei.
Scouts work solely on behalf of their international clients. We are not agents, and we cannot evaluate or respond to unsolicited material. |
