Susan Hood

Susan Hood was most recently the children’s content director of Nick Jr. Magazine and is a former writer and children’s book editor at Scholastic and Sesame Workshop. In addition to writing for kids, she has written for parents and early childhood educators in the New York Times, Nick’sParentsConnect, Sesame Street Parent’s Guide, Working Mother, and more.


Susan is also the author of more than 200 books for ages 0-8, including board books, concept books, interactive books, nonfiction, and beginning readers. She has published books with Disney, Fisher-Price, Penguin Putnam, Scholastic, and Simon & Schuster, among others. She is now writing original picture books under her own name.


Her most recent titles include Spike, illustrated by Caldecott Honoree Melissa Sweet (Paula Wiseman Books/S&S), about a fearsome Mexican salamander, called an axolotl; and The Tooth Mouse (Kids Can Press), illustrated by Janice Nadeau, about the Parisian equivalent of the Tooth Fairy.

She recently sold two inspiring books to Disney/Hyperion, Rooting for You! and Leaps and Bounce.
