Madeline Stevens is the author of Small Night, a suspenseful literary debut to be published by Ecco in the U.S. and Faber in the U.K. in the summer of 2019. Italian rights have sold to Mondadori, and Chinese rights to Citic.
Pitched as Sweetbitter meets The Perfect Nanny, Small Night follows broke 26-year-old Ella Crawford as she becomes a nanny for a rich and beautiful Upper East Side couple. Ella’s initial resentment of the young mother morphs into a dangerous obsession in this psychologically propulsive debut.
Madeline Stevens currently lives in Los Angeles, but until recently lived and worked as a nanny in New York City. Madeline holds an MFA from Columbia University, her writing has been published widely, and she founded the Sundays at Erv’s reading series in Brooklyn. She hails from a small town in Oregon.
